A Trio of Milestone Testnets

Huygens Testnet (March 11 - April 22, 2024)

On March 11, 2024, we launched our first testnet, Huygens (named after Christiaan Huygens, the astronomer who discovered Saturn's largest moon, Titan). Over its initial phase, Huygens achieved groundbreaking results:

• 411,628 nodes globally connected
• 114,632 online nodes actively contributing
• 2,535 TB of data stored
• 14,106 TB of storage space provisioned
• Participation from 130 nations
• 154,538 unique IP addresses

To incentivize engagement, we introduced a points-based reward mechanism, encouraging the contribution of idle storage and bandwidth. Additionally, we deployed early-stage smart contracts to decentralize business processes and tested a preliminary scheduling system to optimize commercial service feasibility.

This testnet not only demonstrated Titan's technical capabilities but also highlighted the immense potential of global collaboration in building decentralized infrastructure.

Key Objectives & Achievements

Herschel Testnet (April 22 - June 17, 2024)

Named after William Herschel, who discovered Saturn's moon Titan, this second testnet built upon Huygens and showcased a more powerful Titan Network.

• WASM/JS Container Integration: Integrated WASM/JS environments into mobile apps, PCs, and edge devices, enabling the provision of commercial services (e.g., Filecoin Station).

• WASM/JS Container Services: Builds on Herschel's groundwork, providing commercial functionalities like IP Leasing (Tunnel Network) and Filecoin Station.
